The Ant

A meditative pixel art browser experience. You are a single ant, exploring an infinite procedural world.

How to Play

Use arrow keys or WASD to guide your ant. Leave her alone and she'll groom her antennae, wander, or probe the ground with her feelers. There is no score and no timer. Just explore.

The World

Six biomes blend seamlessly into each other: sandy beaches with shells and driftwood, gravel flats dense with pebbles, earthy dirt paths with grass tufts, lush meadows dotted with wildflowers and clovers, dark forest floors covered in fallen leaves and mushrooms, and cracked asphalt roads with weeds pushing through.

Large obstacles — boulders, tree roots, concrete chunks — appear along the way. The ant must navigate around them.

The Ant

Anatomically faithful pixel art: three-segment thorax, narrow petiole waist, large gaster with tergite bands, six legs with inverse kinematics and tripod gait, compound eyes, articulated mandibles, and elbowed antennae that alternately probe the ground while walking.

Technology

Pure vanilla JavaScript and Canvas 2D. Zero dependencies. Procedural terrain generated via simplex noise with biome blending. Runs at 60fps in any modern browser.
